Day Two @ Cardigan
Regions: On the second day of our Cardigan trip we hiked three of the five possible mountains there. While our team hiked we all noticed the different regions around and on the mountains. There were all kinds of different sections we noticed as we hiked.
For example, we distinguished the boreal region. "An environment characterized by coniferous forests mostly made up of pines and spruces." Each time we climbed higher we could see the diversity of the forest zones around us. With the vibrant reds, oranges, yellows and purples seemingly in a rather straight line stopping. It would then move into the plain evergreens, spruces and pines.
Moreover, there was the bare rock region also. Most of the mountains there had rock at the top, such as firescrew. The reason being that a so called fire tornado burned away all the growth and soil there leaving merely stone, hence the name firescrew. When we finally summited the view was fantastic. You could again, see multiple regions, (between the nice foliage and the evergreens) stopping and begining until, we reached the summit. A region stopped yet again, but this time bare rock continued it to the peak. It was nice to be able to see the complete differences. Overall, the regions at Cardigan were very fascinating to not only see, but to understand.
